Day 9 of Thanks Giving: The Family Tree
The idea of a tree as a metaphor for the structure of family has always appealed to me. Our family gives us roots and a base upon which to branch out. If we are lucky, we have the opportunity to grow the family tree as we make our way in life.
I am fortunate to come from a large family. My parents are still with us, my siblings as well. I have dozens of cousins, aunts and uncles, and family pets. Our family tree grows each year as weddings and babies occur, and with the connections of in-laws and step-family, we have quite a lush forest of people to celebrate.
My family members are scattered around the U.S. A few are in other countries. And as our family tree has grown, we rarely have all of us together. The holidays get hectic trying to see as many people as possible, but I will love every moment that I am able to spend with them.
Today on this day of Thanksgiving, I am most grateful for my large and loving family.
Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!
