12 Days of Thanks Giving: Thankful for Planks

plank

I am participating in a blog challenge: Writing up to 12 blog posts about the things in life that I am grateful for. Big stuff or little stuff, it is my task to take a moment to reflect.

Today, as my first Thanks Giving post, I am thankful for...planks. I am also participating in a month-long Planks-giving challenge, and each day requires that I attempt to hold a plank just a bit longer than the prior day. By the end of the month, I should be able to hold a plank for 5 minutes!

The plank exercise is so very good for our body. It develops a strong core, which we can then build upon to strengthen the entire body.

I am thankful for the Thanks Giving blog challenge as well as the Planks-giving challenge!

Kathryn,

What an interesting challenge.  The plank is something I can do, but I have no idea how long I can hold it.  We love yoga.  A

Thanks a great challenge, Kathryn Acciari ... I do static poses and the most I've done is 4 minutes 15 seconds....timed by my trainer.... every muscle in your body is engaged.... especially core....Planks are similar and primarily for core strengthening....congrats on 5 minutes.... you whipped my butt.

Hey Kathyryn that sounds like a very interesting challenge - the plank. It will be fun to hear how you progressed by the end of the month. Enjoy!

That is tough stuff and it is also a special talent that my wife has who doesn't miss a day of yoga.

Alexandra - I have tried yoga and it always feels good. Keep up with it!

Barbara, I've not yet reached that 5 minute mark! But that is the goal. I am sure you could do the same, knowing your condition and strength.

Hi Anna - I will definitely check in with a report, once my body stops shaking from the effort!

The planks-giving challenge sounds awesome; you'll have to keep us posted on how you do!

That is a great way to tone the body and build that inner strength. Did you make your 5-minute goal?
