USPS Issues Total Eclipse of the Sun Commemorative Stamp

USPS Issues Total Eclipse of the Sun Commemorative Stamp

solar eclipse 2017

With the upcoming total solar eclipse on August 21, 2017, the United States Postal Service has issued a heat-sensitive commemorative stamp. The stamp is a photo of a total solar eclipse - a black moon highlighted by a solar ring. If you place a finger on one of the stamps, the heat from your finger changes the eclipse to a full moon.

Pretty darn clever.

The Total Eclipse of the Sun stamp is a Forever Stamp and costs 49 cents. I bought a couple of sheets; I think they'll be fun to use for Halloween-time mailings.

I didn't know.  I may have to get some of these and send out some cards from where I am going to see the eclipse.

WEll, this could be a wind fall for the Post Office.  We all know how they need the revenue.

Since I will be in Florida and won't see the total eclipse, I will have to buy the stamp.

What a wonderful idea! Keep a sheet as they'll probably be collectibles one day, Kathryn!
