Thankful for Winter Training

Thankful for Winter Training

I am involved in the sport of rowing. "Involved" is putting it mildly. I am quite obsessed with the sport of rowing. Nearly every day in spring, summer, and fall, I rise before dawn in order to row 8 miles before beginning the rest of my day.

Now that cold and wind have arrived, it is time to turn to winter training. There will be some skiing and jogging if the weather is mild, but most days will require conquering the rowing machine, aka erg. The erg is a cruel and heartless machine that tells us how slow we rowers are.

Regardless, three months of erging will help set the pace for the next rowing season.  Love-hate relationship though it is, I am thankful for winter training.

Thanks for sharing your training commitment. This is a reminder that I need to get more exercise.

I think it's great you have an indoor winter training routine. I know it's not as much fun as being out on the water, but at least you can still keep those muscles in shape.

That is the goal, Debbie, thank you.  One other benefit about the indoor training is that there is more opportunity to talk to people in between huffing and puffing.
