New Smoke Detector Requirements for Homes Built Before 1975

smoke detector code massachusetts

Effective December 1, 2016, the the Board of Fire Prevention Regulations will institute new smoke detector requirements for one- and two- family homes built prior to January 1, 1975.

For residents of Massachusetts, the full details are available in this document located on the Department of Fire Safety web site.  If you own a property, or intend to sell a property, built prior to January 1, 1975, I urge you to become familiar with the new smoke detector code.

Keep your home and its residents safe!

Kathryn Acciari This sounds like a good law to have in place.  I have not heard of it in Florida yet.
