Skip the Mall and Go Explore Artists' Open Studios 2016 in Connecticut

Holiday season is upon us and that means shopping.
This year, why not skip the mall and instead go find
unique gifts for family and friends at the
2016 Artists' Open Studios in Connecticut?

In this yearly event, dozens of artists open their studio doors for holiday tours, shows, and shopping. Offerings include works made of glass and pottery, paintings and photography, as well as fiber, metal, and wood arts.

The  Artists' Open Studios takes place in studios from Ellington to Thompson, down to Canterbury, and across to Columbia, often referred to as the Quiet Corner of Connecticut. This online catalog lists all of the artists and includes a map of all of the studios involved.

The Artists' Open Studios runs from 10 am to 5 pm these weekends in November and December:

November 25, 26, 27
December 3, 4

What fun it would be to book a hotel room and spend a weekend exploring local talent in Northeast Connecticut.  Most of the studios are easily reached within an hour of Sturbridge, MA.

I love the concept of open studio.  When we lived in Napa, they did that, and it was very enlightening to visit.  A
