The See-Saw Ride Continues

 

Housing inventory in my area (Central Massachusetts) is on the rise.  With Independence Day over, more sellers are placing their homes on the market.  Unfortunately, mortgage application rates are down.  This would not be too terribly concerning for mid-summer if the volume of homes on the market were not so high.

The buyers still have the advantage - low interest rates, competitive housing prices, and many homes from which to choose.  I expect to be riding this see-saw of a real estate market for quite some time.

I've noticed the increase in actives here too, Kathryn. I think all the talk about the "improving" market by the media is making think it's time to do it now.

Conrad:  My prediction is 2013 as the year of stabilization.  We'll see.

Toni:  That is entirely possible - people tend to believe the media before they believe the experts in a given field.

Kathryn,  with the interest rate so low, hopefully buyers will take advantage of the inventory!    With the decreasing mortgage applications, I will HOPE more are paying CASH!

Joan, I am hopeful as well.  It is hard to understand why more able buyers aren't taking advantage of this market.  Too much uncertainty, I imagine.
