Sturbridge Real Estate 2000 to 2010: A Decade At-A-Glance

Sturbridge Real Estate 2000 to 2010:  A Decade At-A-Glance

An analysis of home sale trends in the first decade of the 2000's shows an interesting story.  This article focuses on real estate sales in Sturbridge, MA, from the year 2000 through 2010.

Sturbridge Single Family Home Sales

As the charts show, Sturbridge real estate sales peaked in 2004, and single family home prices peaked in 2005.  From 2005 to 2009, we felt the real estate market slide.  And in 2010, we started to see signs of stabilization, with a slight uptick in average sale price.

Sturbridge Condominium Sales

Condominium sales show a pattern similar to single family home sales.  Condo sales peaked in 2006, and average condominium sale price peaked in 2005.  From 2006 to 2009, condominium sales in Sturbridge fell.  And in 2010, we started to see condominium sales stabilize.

Real estate sales in 2011 will be closely watched, by property owners as well as professionals in the industry.  Stabilization of the real estate market often goes hand-in-hand with stabilization of the economy; however, there are other large factors at play.  Mortgage interest rates, unemployment, political climate and acts of nature can all have an impact on the recovery of the real estate market.

Good morning, Kathryn. Interesting to see the roller coaster isn't it?

Michael:  It is a good morning!  Yes - the roller coaster is evident.  Hopefully we are on a long, slow and sustainable upward trend.

Hi Kathryn - It looks like we stopped the bleeding in the fourth quarter of 2008.  Good news.
