Fourteen Days of Romance - Day 13: Sweet Nothings
The big day of love is upon us. If you are still looking for some ideas to woo your Valentine, consider that the best Valentine is one that comes from the heart. You'll win with these sweet ideas.
Write a Love Poem
One of my favorite poetry forms is Haiku. This Japanese style of writing is simple and to the point. No verses of flowery stuff that go on forever and ever. Just three quick lines to describe your feelings and thoughts. Simply write what you notice about him/her. For Haiku, the first line should have 5 syllables, the second line 7 syllables, and the last line 5 syllables. Here is an example (from watching my husband wax his car):
Blonde-blue dream machine
Turtle wax and metal flake
You glow in summer
For the Puzzler
Create a crossword puzzle just for your Valentine. Use clues that pertain only to your relationship, such as:
1. Place where we first kissed
2. Our wedding cake flavor
3. Our first vacation spot
4. Number of years we've known each other
... and so on
Customized Balloon Bouquet
This is a fun surprise. Purchase light-colored balloons. Use a dark-colored marker to write small phrases of love on each balloon. Then have the balloons blown up, tie into a big bouquet, and put them in a track-stopping place where he or she is sure to find them.
There are many other ways to put your feelings to paper. You can probably think of a few on your own. Well, what are you waiting for? Better get going!
