Festival of (Giving) Trees Opens Today in Southbridge, MA

December 2, 2010

Southbridge, MA:  The yearly Festival of (Giving) Treesopens today in Southbridge, Massachusetts.  This annual holiday festival is a key event for residents in Central Massachusetts.  And may I say that it is my absolute favorite?festival of giving trees

The Festival of (Giving) Treesis a four-day fundraising event, the proceeds of which are donated for cancer research and prevention.  Well ahead of opening day, participants in the festival register to donate a decorated Christmas tree.  The trees are then raffled off during the event's tree viewing hours.  This year, there are 113 trees to oooh and aah over.

In addition to the tree collection, the festival includes a variety of fun-filled activities.  These include a Poinsettia Luncheon on Thursday, the Friday night Gala and auction, a Caribbean Music Festival on Saturday, and of course the tree raffle on Sunday.  You may see the entire schedule on the festival's web site.

Whatever your plans this weekend, be sure to make some time to visit the Festival of (Giving) Trees.  It is sure to heighten your holiday spirit.

Southbridge does a great job of decorating the town.  I am surprised that they haven't been shut down by the atheists and other idiots:)

Sounds like a fun event. And, for a great cause too. Have a wonderful Sunday, Kathryn.

Conrad:  Happily there is still room in the world for many philosophies.

Toni:  Thank you.  It was a great start to the holiday season.
