School is in Session!

School is in Session!

 backpack

All around town today there was a consistent level of hustle bustle.  The stores were filled with moms and kids loading their carts with lunch goodies and school supplies.  Notebooks, pencils, rulers, ice packs, juice boxes, water bottles, peanut butter, bread, cold cuts - all the essentials for the return to school.

Haircuts, new shoes, The Outfit - what to wear for the important first day.  The excited energy of anticipation and anxiety could be felt in the aisles.  So many questions to be answered, new teachers, new friends, new challenges.

Is there any day more stressful?  And for whom, the parents or the students?  No matter, it can't be stopped.  The day has arrived.  School is in session!

Hi Kathryn, and for those of us with older children, to remember from 2:30-4:00, kids walking home from school, slowing during school zones!

My granddaughter's first of day of kindergarten is tomorrow - and I am so excited, not at all stressed. But I am the grandma...not the mom.

Kathryn ~ school around here started last week.  However my sister just moved to central Wisconsin and they don't start until next week after Labor Day.  I agree with Joan, we need to be conscious of the kids walking across the streets.

Joan:  That is a huge concern for all.  In MA, we just banned any handheld devices while driving.  Let's hope it helps keep all of our kids (walkers and drivers) safe.

Carla:  It must be so fun watching your granddaughter grow up. Kindergarten is a big step.

Dawn:  Isn't it amazing how different each state's school schedule is?  In NY, we started after Labor Day and that makes the most sense to me.  Let the kids have a full summer!
