New Hampshire Hike: Belknap Mountain
When my family vacations, we like to spend our time outdoors. Therefore, we tend to travel to areas that offer plenty of options for hiking, biking, skiing, and other outdoor adventures.
Blueberries on Belknap Mountain
We recently visited the Lakes region of New Hampshire and climbed the Old Piper Trail of Belknap Mountain. This particular trail provided a steep ascent through the woods, exiting onto rockly ledges loaded with low-bush blueberries. Old Piper Trail is only about a 1 mile hike, but a good heartrate-elevating climb. By the time we reached the blueberries, we were ready for a snack and had a great time picking the tiny, sweet fruit from the endless fields of blueberry bushes.
At the summit, we found a fantastic view of the surrounding lakes and mountains of New Hampshire, along with interesting rock formations - some of them probably made by trail crews.
Rocky Ledge atop Belknap Mountain
This was a fun hike for families, which I recommend for hikers who visit Central New Hampshire. Go in July, when the blueberries are in season.
