Central Massachusetts Agent Tackles Short Sales
Sturbridge, MA - Feb 2010 - Kathryn Acciari, a REALTOR with RE/MAX Professional Associates, has joined the Distressed Property Institute, in an effort to assist homeowners who are having difficulty making their mortgage payments and who may be facing foreclosure.
"What few homeowners are aware of is that before accepting foreclosure of their home, there are other options and solutions that may be available to them," says Acciari. "A mortgage lender may be willing to modify the mortgage loan so that the monthly payments are lower. Or the lender may be willing to take a short sale, in which a sale price lower than the mortgage is accepted by the lender."
Foreclosure is a process that can have devastating effects on a person's credit and ability to gain employment, a fact that few people are aware of. By comparison, a short sale also impacts a person's credit but not to the same serious degree as foreclosure. A person who has gone through the short sale process will usually be able to regain financial stability, and thus become a homeowner again, faster than someone who has a foreclosure in their history.
Having completed the rigorous training to obtain the prestigious designation of Certified Distressed Property Expert, Acciari is able to offer a wide variety of resources to homeowners who need mortgage help.
"I'll work with homeowners to talk with the mortgage lender and see what the bank is willing to consider. Sometimes the bank requires that the home be listed on the market, and as a real estate professional, I can get a home listed quite quickly. Once an offer comes in, I will help negotiate with the bank and organize the documents the bank needs in order to make a decision. My goal is to try to make the short sale process streamlined and organized, so that the homeowner is included in the process and not left in a cloud of confusion."
Acciari serves the towns of Central/South Massachusetts, including:
- Southern Areas of Worcester
"I invite any homeowner in these towns to contact me for a confidential discussion. When a homeowner is going through a difficult financial time, there are many emotions involved. My job is to try to lift some of that stress off the homeowner's shoulders."
