Socks for Siberia: Run Your Socks Off 5K and Festival - Sat. June 11, 2011, Sturbridge MA
The fifth annual Socks for Siberia festival will be held on Saturday, June 11, 2011, at Hyland Orchards in Sturbridge, MA. In concert with the fifth year anniversary, this year will mark the very first 5K race through the orchards to kick off the festival. There will also be a one-mile kids fun run.
The festival starts at 10 AM, with race registration beginning at 9 AM. After your run your socks off, you can rock your socks off because there will be live music throughout the day. In addition, children's games will run all day long, and don't miss the good old pie-eating contest!
What is Socks for Siberia? Socks for Siberia is a fundraising effort started by Wally and Michele Connor following a trip to Russia. They saw the conditions faced by orphaned children and were drawn by the plight of children and families in Russia. The Connors started Socks for Siberia to help provide funds to orphaned children in the Khakassia and Krasnoyarsk areas of Siberia.
Visit the Socks for Siberia web site for more details. Hope to see you there!
